Should You Wait for Black Friday to Buy a Mattress in Australia?

Should you wait until Black Friday itself to buy a mattress? Usually not if the Black Friday price is already available and you've found the right mattress.
The Best in Beds Black Friday Sale starts on Sunday 1 November 2026, well before Black Friday itself on Friday 27 November.
If you've already chosen the mattress or bed you want at the advertised Black Friday price, buying earlier in November can give you a better choice of sizes and models and more time for manufacturing, freight and delivery before Christmas.
Waiting can make sense if you're still comparing mattresses and aren't confident you've found the right one. But waiting purely for 27 November doesn't necessarily make sense when the Black Friday offer is already live.
Do You Need to Wait Until Black Friday to Get the Black Friday Price?
Not at Best in Beds in 2026.
Our Black Friday campaign runs from 1 November to 29 November 2026.
That means customers can shop participating Black Friday deals throughout November rather than having to wait until Friday 27 November.
If the mattress you want is already included in the sale at a price you're happy with, the question becomes less about waiting for a particular date and more about securing the right product and delivery timeframe.
Why Buying Earlier in Black Friday Can Make Sense
November is not just a sale period for bedding retailers. It also leads directly into the busy pre-Christmas trading and delivery period.
That can create three separate pressure points:
- available imported stock;
- Australian manufacturing capacity; and
- freight and delivery schedules.
These don't affect every product or every order, but they're worth considering if you know exactly what you want or need delivery before Christmas.
Imported Products Can Sell Through Popular Stock
Some beds, bedroom furniture and related products are imported rather than manufactured locally.
That means Australian retailers are often working with stock that has already arrived in the country or with replenishment stock that may take time to arrive.
Popular brands such as Boori can have particularly sought-after sizes, colours and configurations.
When those combinations sell through during a major promotion, replacing them isn't always as simple as asking a local factory to make another one immediately.
If you've chosen a specific imported product and the Black Friday price is already available, ordering earlier can help secure the available stock rather than hoping your preferred configuration is still there later in November.
Australian-Made Mattresses Can Get Busy Too
Australian-made doesn't necessarily mean a mattress is sitting in a warehouse ready for immediate delivery.
Many mattresses are manufactured according to ongoing retailer and customer demand.
During Black Friday and the lead-up to Christmas, Australian mattress manufacturers can receive a substantial increase in orders.
Australian-made ranges sold by Best in Beds include products from brands and ranges such as Sealy, King Koil, Sleep Firm, Domino, Yinahla and Eco Kids.
As order volumes increase, production schedules can become busier and expected lead times can extend.
That doesn't mean a delay will occur. It simply means that ordering earlier gives the manufacturer, retailer and delivery network more time to complete the order.
Can Black Friday Affect Mattress Delivery Times?
Yes, sometimes.
Even if the mattress itself is available, Black Friday increases the number of products moving through freight networks, warehouses and retail delivery schedules.
November then flows directly into the Christmas delivery period, which can create another increase in demand.
If receiving your mattress or bed before Christmas is important, ordering earlier gives you more room in the schedule than placing the same order near the end of November.
Delivery times vary by product and destination, so always check the current expected timeframe for your particular order.
Does Ordering Early Guarantee Pre-Christmas Delivery?
Not automatically.
Availability, manufacturing, freight and your delivery location can all affect the timeframe.
The benefit of ordering earlier is that it gives you the best chance of securing the product you want and allowing sufficient time for pre-Christmas delivery.
If having your mattress or bed before Christmas is essential, confirm current stock and the expected delivery timing with Best in Beds before placing your order.
When Does Waiting for Black Friday Make Sense?
There are situations where waiting - or simply taking more time - is the right decision.
Don't rush into buying a mattress just because a sale has started if you're still unsure about:
- the mattress size you need;
- your preferred firmness;
- whether you're comfortable on the mattress;
- whether you're upgrading your bed size;
- which construction or brand suits you; or
- whether the purchase fits your budget.
A mattress you'll sleep on every night should still be the right mattress after Black Friday is over.
If you need more help choosing, our Black Friday Mattress Sale Sydney 2026 guide explains size, firmness and mattress-shopping considerations in more detail.
How to Buy Early Without Rushing Your Decision
Buying earlier doesn't mean making a rushed purchase.
A sensible process is:
- Choose your size. Decide whether you're staying with your existing size or moving to something larger.
- Narrow your firmness. Consider what you currently sleep on and whether you want a softer, firmer or similar feel.
- Compare suitable mattresses. Don't let the discount determine which mattress is appropriate.
- Try mattresses in store if you're unsure. Comparing several models side by side can make differences much easier to understand.
- Check stock or manufacturing timing. Particularly if you need the mattress before Christmas.
- Confirm the Black Friday price and place the order once you're comfortable.
This lets you take advantage of the early sale period without treating the purchase like a race.
Should You Wait Because the Price Might Be Lower on Black Friday?
It's understandable to wonder whether waiting until the official Black Friday date will produce another price reduction.
However, if a retailer is already advertising a product as part of its Black Friday sale, there is no automatic reason to assume that the same item will become cheaper simply because the calendar reaches Black Friday.
At Best in Beds, the 2026 Black Friday campaign starts on 1 November.
That gives shoppers most of the month to compare participating products rather than concentrating every purchase into one weekend.
The right decision should be based on the current offer, the mattress itself and your required delivery timeframe rather than trying to predict a future price change.
What If the Mattress I Want Is Australian Made?
Buying Australian made has many advantages, including supporting local manufacturing and giving Australian retailers access to locally produced ranges.
But local manufacturing still has capacity limits.
During Black Friday and Christmas trading, factories may be producing a much larger volume of mattresses than during quieter periods of the year.
If the particular model, size and firmness you want needs to be manufactured, ordering earlier provides more time for that production process.
This is particularly relevant when you have a fixed delivery goal such as setting up a bedroom before Christmas or preparing a guest room for visiting family.
What About Beds and Imported Bedroom Furniture?
Similar timing considerations apply to beds.
Imported furniture can depend on available Australian warehouse stock, while certain colours, sizes or configurations can be more popular than others.
If you're buying a mattress and bed together, check availability for both products.
A mattress arriving quickly doesn't necessarily help if the specific bed frame you're waiting for is unavailable.
Our Black Friday Bed Sale Sydney guide explains how to choose between Queen, King, timber, upholstered and storage bed designs.
Should You Shop Online or Visit a Mattress Store?
If you already know exactly which mattress you want, ordering online can be simple and convenient.
If you're still comparing firmness, construction or brands, visiting a showroom can be worthwhile before placing the order.
Best in Beds has Sydney showrooms at Campbelltown and Prospect, plus Warrawong serving Wollongong and the Illawarra.
You can compare suitable mattresses in person, then discuss current stock, manufacturing and delivery timing with the team.
So, Should You Wait for Black Friday to Buy a Mattress?
If the Black Friday sale is already live, you've found the right mattress and you're comfortable with the price, there is usually little benefit in waiting purely for the official Black Friday date.
Buying earlier can give you:
- more choice of available sizes and configurations;
- a better chance of securing popular imported stock;
- more manufacturing time for Australian-made mattresses;
- more time within freight and delivery schedules; and
- a better chance of receiving the order before Christmas where timing allows.
The exception is when you're still unsure which mattress to buy. In that case, spend the extra time choosing correctly rather than purchasing simply because a sale is running.
