A gas lift bed gives you access to storage beneath the mattress platform while keeping the storage concealed when the bed is closed. The best design depends on your bedroom layout, the direction you want the platform to open and whether you prefer a standard assisted lift or a powered storage-lift mechanism on selected models.
Gas lift beds can open from different directions. A front-lift design typically raises from the foot end, while a side-lift design provides access from one side. Check the individual model and choose the opening direction that works best with your walls, bedside tables and walking space.
Most gas lift beds use assisted lifting mechanisms to help raise the mattress platform. Selected models in our range also offer an electric storage-lift mechanism. This powered function is designed to access under-bed storage; it is different from an adjustable bed base, which changes the sleeping position.
The lift mechanism, mattress platform and mattress work together as a system. Check the individual product instructions for compatible mattress requirements and any operating guidance before purchasing. Do not assume that every mattress or mechanism has the same requirements.
Some gas lift beds focus entirely on lift-up under-bed storage, while selected designs also include drawers or other storage features. Use the Storage Type filter and check each product page for the exact lift direction, drawer arrangement and internal storage configuration.
A gas lift bed is a bed frame with a mattress platform that lifts to provide access to storage underneath. The lifting mechanism assists with raising the platform, allowing the storage area to remain concealed when the bed is closed.
Choose based on the bedroom layout and the individual bed design. Front-lift beds generally open from the foot end, while side-lift designs provide access from one side. Consider walls, bedside tables, wardrobes and walking space, and always check the product page for the exact opening direction.
No. A powered or electric storage-lift mechanism raises the mattress platform so you can access storage beneath the bed. An adjustable bed or adjustable base changes the position of the sleep surface for sleeping or resting. These are different functions and different bed types.
Do not assume every mattress is suitable for every gas lift mechanism. Mattress size, construction and other requirements can vary by bed design. Check the individual gas lift bed's product information and instructions, and contact our team if you need help matching a mattress to a particular frame.
They can be a practical option because the storage is accessed by lifting the mattress platform rather than pulling large drawers into the surrounding floor space. However, the full bed dimensions, opening direction and room layout still matter, so measure the room and check the individual model before purchasing.
Available sizes vary by model. Use the Bed Size filter on this collection to see the gas lift beds currently available in the size you need, then check the individual product page because storage and lift configurations can differ between models and variants.
